August 21-25, 2011
Every two years, my wife’s family gets together for a week in a big house somewhere cool. For me, it is a great chance to get to know them better, while also getting in lots of hiking and photography. Usually, it also means I get to visit a national park.
2011’s destination was Grand Lake, Colorado, just outside the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, where we rented a nice house on a lake. This gave me the opportunity to explore the park every day.
I thought it was pretty neat to see a section of the Colorado River you could almost hop over.
My memory is not strong enough to know where all the shots below are from, but they tend to progress from west to east. I am looking forward to a return trip!
